Indumathi Karunathilaka
Indumathi is an incredibly talented athlete representing Sri Lanka at the Rio 2016 Paralympics. She recently competed at the 2016 Asia-Oceania Athletic Championship, winning 2 gold medals in the women’s 200m and 400m event as well as a silver medal in women’s long jump.
Indumathi was born without her left forearm but she never let her disability bring her down. After finishing school, she started working at Rehab Lanka where her athletic skill was noticed. She then moved to Slimline (Pvt) Limited to practice and refine her technique. In 2015, Indumathi won the Women Go Beyond (WGB) initiative at Slimline and in 2016, she was the first woman to receive the Presidential award for outstanding differently abled sports woman.
Indumathi is passionate about changing society’s attitude towards the disabled and campaigns for equal treatment and opportunity. We are incredibly thrilled to have Indumathi as an ambassador for Trail 2016.
