Trail 2011
In July 2011, the first walk took place starting from Southern Dondra Head and ending at Northern Point Pedro over the course of 28 days. The goal was to raise USD 1 million to build a cancer treatment unit as part of an extension of the Tellippalai Hospital in Jaffna. With the support of over 30,000 walkers and more than 250,000 donors, USD 2.6 million was raised and an entirely separate cancer hospital was built – the Tellippalai Trail Cancer Hospital.
