Trail 2016 was a phenomenal success thanks to all our supporters, participants and sponsors. Throughout the walk, we came across so many people who showed great compassion, supported our cause without hesitation and donated whatever they could – all in the name of unity and our fight against cancer. Although the walk is over, our journey has just begun, and we want to continue sharing these #TrailStories with you. We hope you enjoy them!
TrailStories: Trail 2016, Day 7 (October 12)
In 2011, three little girls stood on the side of the road and held out Rs. 100 as we walked to Jaffna to set up a cancer hospital. The girls lived in poverty – their house was a tent and their parents were unemployed. We have been helping the family since that time and as we set out to walk again and build a cancer hospital in the South this time, the children were standing by the side of the road, patiently waiting for us to pass by. The girls are now much older – they now have a home, are enrolled in school and both their parents are working. These are the stories that make us all come together to create change and make our country a better place for all of us.
If you’d like to donate to Trail and help us reach our goal of USD 5 million to build a cancer hospital as an extension of the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital, please visit www.trailsl.com and click on the “Donate” button.
